“Shattered Neon”, something I did in a few minutes“Shattered Neon”, something I did in a few minutes

in my role as an artist, I come across a lot of software that I use for my works.  Sometimes they’re good, other times, it makes you wonder what the bother was worth.

In this case, we’re talking about Amberlight, by a small company called Escape Motions.  The company calls it a “particle computer graphics generator”, which is a rather ornate way of saying fractal program.  It’s nothing exactly groundbreaking: I’ve owned copies of Ultra Fractal in the past, and they’re pretty good.  So what does Amberlight do differently?

Read past the bump to find out.

“The dawn to end all nights
That’s all we hoped it was
A break from the warfare in your house
To each his own…”
– Broken Bells

Okay, James Mercer I’m not (even though I’m as old); Brian Burton I’m not either.  What does that have anything to do with?  Only that I’m human, and not a musician.

Me, I think I'll go for the double-ties.  That tends to look pretty elegant.

Behold: human. (img: Uproxx)Behold: human. (img: Uproxx)

You know, I’ve never been a fan of MSNBC, but their latest gaffe isn’t going to win me over, well, ever.  Seriously, this is a low for a “news” network, and the anchor in question should be ashamed of herself.

What am I talking about?

I think I’ll let blogger, comic artist and convention runner (and friend) Oni Hartstein say it for me, since she already verbalized it so eloquently (reposted with her permission, after the break):
